About Gary

I was born and raised in Corner Brook.

My parents are Ed and Blanche Kelly.  I have one younger brother Mike, who lives in Mt. Pearl with his wife and three daughters.

My father was a mechanic at Lundrigans until they closed down in the early nineties. Dad eventually went on to work with the Operating Engineers Union (Local 904) until he retired. My mother was a stay at home mom.

I have two sons – Liam who is 12 and attends G C Rowe Junior High and Lucas who is 9 and attends Humber Elementary.

I love both of my boys dearly.

After graduating from Regina High School, I attended Sir Wilfred Grenfell College Grenfell Campus Memorial University in Corner Brook and eventually went to St. John’s where I graduated from Memorial University with Bachelor Of Arts Degree, with a major in Economics and a minor in Business.

I lived in Halifax from 1998 until the summer of 2007 when I moved back to Corner Brook.

During my time in Halifax, I worked for one of the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies. I eventually went on to work in the surgical supplies industry where I sold cataract surgery equipment and minimally invasive surgical equipment for laparoscopic medical procedures.

I currently work at Western Health in the Information Management department where I focus my time working on electronic health record’s. I am also part of the Green Team initiative at Western Health where I sit on the working group.

I volunteer some of my time with the VON here in Corner Brook where I currently sit on the board of directors.  I’m also volunteering some of my time with the 27th Canadian Student Leadership Conference that will be held here in Corner Brook at the end of September 2011.
